Location: Bronx, New York
Client: New York City Parks Department
Project: Bronx Concrete Park – Civil Engineering
Design for Retaining Walls.
Newport Engineering, P.C. designed varying height
concrete retaining walls to support a 20’
Wide public esplanade (pedestrian and bicycle paths)
as part of a revitalization plan along the Bronx
River for the New York City Department of Parks.
Newport performed on-site soil borings and test
holes. The design included subsurface stabilization
through the use of helical pier supports, design
of grade beams, and design of reinforcement steel
and poured concrete retaining walls. Newport completed
the design in Spring 2007 and project is in construction.
